#Repost joke deen with @get_repost I’M TRACKING EVERYTHING I EAT BUT I AIN’T LOSING WEIGHT! . Earlier this week I had a call with a nice woman who was working really hard at the gym and had begun tracking her intake to help her lose some weight. . We spent a few minutes talking about what she was eating how often how much etc. . She told me that it was hard for her to get enough protein without overdoing the carbs and fat. In short I gave her some tips that would help her reach those protein goals. . But what stood out to me the most was a MAJOR MIS that so many make. . She said “I am tracking everything I eat inputting it into my phone and hitting a steady caloric deficit but i’m not losing weight.” . I began to prod some more asking questions until I figured it out. . Turns out… we share a love for guacamole and avocados. . I asked her how she was tracking and she told me that when she ate an avocado she would look it up in her tracker and input ‘1 avocado’ and that’s when it hit me! . She thought she was tracking properly but she wasn’t and didn’t even know it! . The portion sizes matter and if you’re not losing weight… it could be that you’re eating much more than you’re tracking. . So in this example above you’ll see that I have spooned out a dollop of guacamole I made a few nights ago. Both of these are ‘1 spoonful’ but they differ massively in total weight. . So when you think you’re getting only 70 calories you’re actually getting 140 // 2x the amount you originally thought and recorded. . Imagine if you had multiple servings of per day like this… you’d easily blow beyond your targeted caloric intake for fat loss . And this doesn’t just apply to guacamole – it applies to all foods. .
